- Energy Saving Tips
-
Buy an energy efficient oven
- Fan ovens have a concealed heating element that heats the air, this heated air is then circulated throughout the cavity. This cuts down the need for pre-heating by 17% and reduces the temperature by 25%.
-
Use a timer or minute minder
- Using the over timer will enable you to cook without having to open the door to check if the food is cooked. Opening the oven door whilst cooking actually reduces its temperature by approximately 25°C. This will result in it taking more time and energy to cook food within. Also cook items in the oven simultaneously in order to reduce the time you need your oven to be in use.
- Cleaning Tips
-
Do not put foil over oven liners
- Do not cover oven liners with foil as this may irreversibly damage the enamel liner.

General cleaning of oven exterior
- The exterior surface of Hoover ovens are finished with a special anti-fingerprint coating. Stainless steel and glazed surfaces can also be cleaned with lukewarm water and washing up liquid, or with specialist products provided that they do not contain abrasive properties that could damage the surface.
-
Cleaning the oven door
- The oven door should be left to cool down before it is cleaned otherwise the cleaning medium and cloth may cook or melt onto the surface and be very difficult to remove.
The door glass should be wiped clean after every use with an absorbent kitchen paper towel. Heavy splattering can be removed with a sponge.

Cleaning hints for A Class enamel

Cleaning hints for Catalytic liner
- This liner self cleans by absorbing fats and oils and burning them to ash. Use a damp cloth to remove any ash on the base of the oven (see image below)
The liner may discolour with age and should a large amount of fat be spilled onto the liner it may affect its efficiency. To overcome this problem set the oven to maximum temperature for about 10 - 20 minutes. Catalytic liners are designed for a working life of about 300 hours.
If the walls of a catalytic liner are no longer effective, remove the surplus grease with a soft cloth or sponge soaked in hot water. The lining must be porous to be effective. Set the oven to maximum temperature for 20 minutes. Catalytic liners are designed for a working life of about 300 hours.

Cleaning hints for a Pyro Cleaning oven
- This is a self-cleaning oven programme of about 2 hours at approximately 480°C. The door is locked during this process. When the process is finished and the oven cools to what is in effect a hot cooking oven of about 180°C the door is unlocked.
The door is multi-glazed and should not be too hot to touch on the outside. When the oven is sufficiently cooled down the ash that has formed at the bottom can be wiped away with a damp cloth (see image below).
